Currently linear flash cards can be made to work under DOS, Windows 95, Windows 98, Windows ME and Windows 3.X. With a software package offered from SMART Modular Technologies, Windows 2000 will be able to use Linear Flash cards made by us. The software will allow you to format and put a DOS FAT on the card. See bottom of page for more info. Drivers and a flash file system are required for linear flash to work in these operating systems.

Most notebook computers can be used to re-charge the Centennial SRAM card. Keep in mind that power management must be disabled both in BIOS, as well as in Windows. When power management in enabled power is removed from the slot within a few minutes, the card needs to be charged from 6 to 8 hours.

A blanket answer is 9 months for SL series, and 6 months for SR and SI series. There is a bit more to the real answer, the capacity of the card plays a big role in determining battery shelf life, the smaller the capacity the longer the life. In use the card is taking a trickle charge from it's host, provided it is being used hours at a time, and not just minutes.

Typically there is no driver needed to make SRAM work under Windows 2000.
However, Centennial has modified the Memcard.inf to include support for
all Centennial SRAM cards with an attribute memory device that we presently
sell. This update will be included with the Service Pack 2 of Windows
2000. To get the modified .inf, you will need to log onto our FTP sight
and download the modified file. After downloading the file, go to WINNT/
INF directory and rename the memcard.inf that is in there. Insert the
memcard.inf that you downloaded. Make sure that you delete "memcard.pnf",
as this file will be rebuilt by the new "Memcard.inf" when you reboot.
To get to our FTP site, type: ftp://esrvus.smartm.com/$publish
and download memcard.inf from the public directory. Insert this file into
the INF directory of your system. Note: An issue has been brought to our
attention concerning SRAM cards without attribute memory (no CIS). The
issue appears to be that a new un-formatted card without attribute is
seen, and formats properly the first time. Once you remove it from the
PC or power to the card is removed, it can no longer be seen under Windows
2000. There will be no acknowledgement beep from Windows that a card has
been inserted, or removed. It can however be seen, and will work properly
under Win9X. This issue has been forwarded to Microsoft for their input
and a possible work around. Until then, the only solution is to purchase
cards that have an attribute chip on them as they do not have this issue
and should function properly under Windows 2000. Examples of part numbers
without attribute device (SR01M-15-10191, SR02M-15-10194)
